NGC6888 is an emission nebula about 5,000 light years away in the constellation of Cygnus, and about 25 light-years across.
The nebula is formed by a fast stellar wind from a Wolf-Rayet star colliding with and energising slower moving material, previously ejected over 250,000 years ago by the star when it was in it's Red Giant phase. The result of the collision is a shell and two shock waves, one moving inward and one outward. The inward wave heats material enough so that it emits X-rays.
