IC1848 - the Soul Nebula, is a HII emission nebula, about 6,500 light-years away in the constellation of Cassiopia. Strictly speaking the 'IC1848' designation refers to one of the clusters within the nebulous region.
The 'Soul Nebula' is linked to it's adjacent 'Heart Nebula' neighbour by a bridge of gas and is part of a huge star forming region located along the Persius spiral arm of the Milky Way.
